The Senate Has Four Hours to Save Us From a Special Election
It's not too late! The Senate still has four hours to save us the trouble of a special Senate election!
Well, not really. Yes, the Senate Foreign Relations committee approved John Kerry's nomination as Secretary of State this morning, and the Senate is scheduled to take up a vote at 2:15 p.m. But no, not a soul on earth expects the Senate to reject his nomination. Deval Patrick says he'll announce an interim replacement Wednesday, and candidates have four weeks to gather signatures in order to appear on a party primary ballot. Senate vote aside, we are already off to the races. [Associated Press]
