Here’s the Celtics’ Full-Page Tribute to Pierce and Garnett in Today’s Globe
"Thank you for bleeding green," the team tells its departing stars.
The Celtics took out a full-page ad in Friday’s Boston Globe to thank departing stars Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce for “bleeding green” all those years. It’s a nice move that you don’t see teams pull out for just any departing players.
But then, nor is it any surprise that Pierce and Garnett would merit special attention. This offseason, Pierce and Garnett were, of course, traded to the Brooklyn Nets, which has prompted most of us to reflect on their transformative run with the team. You don’t always see players head to another team with such goodwill from their previous one, so it’s nice to see everyone leaving on such good terms.
