Happy August, or As the Patriots Calendar Says ‘Aaron Hernandez Month’
Owners of the officially licensed New England Patriots wall calendar flipped the page from July to August this morning to find a new image of the month, featuring none other than former tight end and alleged killer of Odin Lloyd … Aaron Hernandez. Twitter user Anthony Mahn took a photo of his calendar this morning, which was in turn featured in a story on Boston.com’s Obnoxious Boston Fan blog.
Does anyone know when the Pats calendar trade-in is? #HappyAugust t.co/xprgD0NCEC

This would be less notable if the New England Patriots hadn’t gone to great lengths to scrub any remnant of Hernandez’s existence from our memory, deleting his stats from NFL.com, offering fans a different jersey in exchange for his, etc. But obviously when one of your star players is suddenly removed from the roster in the wake of a murder charge, you’re going to miss a few spots. The calendar, which is produced by (you cannot make this up) Perfect Timing, Inc. and Turner Licensing Co. generally tries to feature the fan favorites on each of its monthly photos. It looks like Hernandez was scheduled to be Mr. February on the 2014 calendar, but we doubt that’ll remain the case.
At any rate, fans now have 31 days to stare at the accused murderer and recall his association with the team. Actually, maybe the team does want to set up that calendar exchange…
