Discarded Chocolate Milk Bottle Leads To Arrest of MBTA Passenger

An MBTA bus passenger was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and interfering with public transportation after he allegedly tossed a container of chocolate milk under the vehicle as he exited, causing a panic that required the assistance of a bomb squad.

According to MBTA officials, the individual, whose name was not immediately available, will be arraigned in court on Thursday for the charges.

Police were first called to the scene of the incident, which happened along the 66 bus route, near Huntington Avenue and Tremont Street near Brigham Circle, just after 9 a.m.

The bus operator said the suspect allegedly exited the MBTA vehicle, and discarded what was later determined to be a chocolate milk container underneath it.

The scene was cleared by 11 a.m., but required a bomb squad response, as well as assistance form the MBTA Transit Police, and Boston Police.

A tow truck was called in to move the bus, once passengers were removed from the vehicle, to get a better look at the container that was tossed below it. No explosives were found, according to police.
