Citizens Disconnect: A Return to the Cowpath

A roundup of our favorite requests for city services in the past week.

With the Citizens Connect app and website, Boston allows its residents to take a picture of a problem, send it to the city along with their precise location, and request help. The site is filled with complaints about trash on the sidewalk, potholes, and dead trees. It also contains the occasional oddity. Welcome to “Citizens Disconnect,” the third in a series wherein we round up our favorite few from the past week:

A City of Cowpaths

cc5

Concerned Citizen: “These cows just pooped all over the lower deck of the Tobin Bridge. Got on cars. Could someone please cleanup? Rain won’t get there. Thanks.”

City Response: None yet.

Well, there is that popular urban legend that Boston is laid out as it is because it was designed for cowpaths, so this complaint seems, in a way, fitting.

Everyone’s A Critic

cd1

Concerned Citizen: “Live music in front of Macy’s.”

City Response: “Closed. Case Invalid. Unable to determine service requested. please resubmit w/ specific detail.”

We guess the guy doesn’t like horn sections?

The Dream Will Never Die

cd2

Concerned Citizen: “Broken dream left on K street. Please clean up.”

City Response: None.

Alas, it was a tough loss for old Dan.

Not Our Department Award

cd3

Concerned Citizen: “Every single employee at the Chinatown rmv has been gone for 15 minutes. Why bother giving out wait times if you’re going to ignore them And disappear…”

City Response: Closed. Case Referred to External Agency. Mass dot jurisdiction. details forwarded.

Yeah, and while we’re submitting cliche complaints to a place that has no jurisdiction over them, let me just say that airplane food is really terrible!

Well, There’s No Law Against Sleeping In.

cd4

Concerned citizen: “Homeless sleeping in Franklin Square. It’s 1:00pm!”

City response: None.

Yeah, 1 p.m. a.k.a. siesta. Not seeing your point here.
