Boston Symphony Orchestra Takes on St. Louis In Musical World Series
World Series fever hit members of the Boston Symphony Orchestra this week, as musicians from the ensemble took their beef with St. Louis off of the field, and onto the roof.
The BSO’s brass section went head-to-head with performers from the Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra, in a video posted online Wednesday, ahead of the Game 1 matchup between the Red Sox and Cardinals.
There was some bad mouthing, beard dissing, taunting, and overall bragging, followed up by a musical showdown between the two groups of performers, which filmed their parts of the “Orchestral World Series” in their respective cities this week.
The brass sections from both Boston and St. Louis played “Anything You Can Do” and “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” for the video mash-up. Music Director Laureate Seiji Ozawa, a Red Sox devotee, joined the BSO brass section to support the Red Sox and lead the arrangement. They filmed their portion of the video on the roof of Symphony Hall while wearing Red Sox jerseys.
While the intro to the video starts with some “trash talking,” it ends on a good note, with a message of support for both teams, in what the brass band members called “the best World Series yet.”
