Jenny Dell Joins CBS as New NFL Sideline Reporter

NESN’s former Red Sox sideline reporter, Jenny Dell, announced on Twitter that she’ll be joining the CBS team as their newest NFL sideline reporter.

Drama unfolded earlier this year when Dell and boyfriend/Red Sox third baseman, Will Middlebrooks, went public with their relationship on News Years Eve. In late January, Dell was removed from the Sox sidelines and into NESN’s studio at Sports Today. Dell and NESN announced they were parting ways with their professional relationship in May.

It’s been mere weeks since her leave from NESN, and Dell has secured a job sideline reporting for NFL on CBS, according to a press release, but the crew with which she’ll work has not yet been determined. Additionally, Tracy Wolfson, who served as the network’s lead college football reporter for the past 10 years, will join the lead announce team, Jim Nantz and Phil Simms, as The NFL on CBS lead reporter. Dell will be utilized on the sidelines with Evan Washburn.

While Boston and other outlets called out the reporter on her conflict of interest while covering the Red Sox, neither Dell nor NESN confirmed whether her departure from the network had a connection to her romance with Middlebrooks.

Boston.com claims that Dell was originally demoted from the Sox sidelines due to her attempt at getting out of her NESN contract. Back in February, Red Sox chairman Tom Werner vaguely said that Dell was free to leave whenever she wanted. Here we are now, and Dell is going to be reporting with at NFL on CBS.

No one is sure what the moral of the story is here, but it looks like Jenny Dell came out on top.
