Hop on the New WiFi Connection at Select MBTA Green Line Stations

Transit riders with an existing Comcast Xfinity account can now access WiFi hotspots at key Green Line stops between North Station and Kenmore.

On Tuesday, MBTA officials announced that Comcast flipped the switch on the new connectivity option, making high-speed Internet access available on the platforms at North Station, Haymarket, Park Street, Boylston, Arlington, Copley, Prudential, Symphony, Hynes Convention Center, and Kenmore, as well as dozens of other outdoor station platforms of the Green Line’s various branches.

“America’s oldest subway has now become one of the very first to offer customers high speed Internet access on century-old train platforms,” said MBTA General Manager Beverly Scott.  “With the introduction of Wi-Fi service at Green Line stations, hundreds of thousands of T riders can stay connected preparing for their daily commutes.”

While the prospect sounds exciting, and the chance to enhance the experience of riding the MBTA is inviting, only existing Comcast customers with a valid account and password will be able to hop on the network and get full access.

Non-Xfinity Internet customers can sample the WiFi network with two, 60-minute complimentary sessions per month, or they can choose to purchase various packages so they can log into the hotspots without restrictions.

According to Xfinity, customers can access the WiFi at no additional charge by selecting “xfinitywifi” from the list of available networks on their laptops or mobile devices, and entering their Comcast ID or email and password. After the initial sign in, customers will be automatically connected to the network whenever they are in a hotspot location.
