Isaiah Thomas’ Kids Took Over His Post-Game Press Conference
Isaiah Thomas dominated Game 4 of the Celtics’ playoff series against the Atlanta Hawks, leading the Celtics with 28 points and nailing a three-pointer at the end of overtime that iced Boston’s 104-95 victory and tied the series up at two games apiece. But after the final buzzer sounded, his kids stole the show.
Thomas’ two young sons, Jaiden and James, accompanied the All-Star point guard to the postgame podium—much like Steph Curry’s daughter, Riley, joined him last year. When Thomas was finished answering questions, James had a few comments of his own to make to the press. He took the mic and proclaimed his dad is the “greatest basketball player” before Jaiden stepped in and thanked everyone for coming. Such good manners!
James Thomas had every reason to be proud of his father’s performance. In addition to his overtime three, Thomas weaved through the Atlanta Hawks’ defense and scored the game-tying layup late in the fourth quarter. It was quite a follow-up to the show Thomas put on during Game 3 Friday, in which he dropped a career-high 42 points. The list of Celtics greats who have scored more than 40 points in a playoff game includes Larry Bird, John Havlicek, Paul Pierce and Jo Jo White.
Thomas’ kids weren’t the only ones who embraced him after Game 4. Patriots running back LeGarrette Blount—one of the many Pats who was in attendance—celebrated with Thomas at center court. The festivities continued into the Celtics’ locker room, where Blount was spotted wearing Thomas’ jersey on his way out. Here’s hoping Blount joins Jaiden and James for the next press conference.
