The ‘Glorious’ Dining Halls at UMass Amherst Are the Best in the Country

The results are in, and apparently UMass Amherst students are dining on the best college food in the country, says The Princeton Review.
The ruling appeared in the 25th installment of the publication’s rankings, which rated the top 381 schools for 2017. It’s the first time the school has earned the top spot.
To celebrate the victory, the UMass Amherst’s mascot, Sam the Minuteman, appeared on the Today Show Tuesday morning to dole out pork sliders and Napoleon pastries.
“We’re pleased to see that The Princeton Review has recognized what all of us at UMass Amherst have long known: when it comes to college food, UMass Dining can’t be beat,” Chancellor Kumble Subbaswamy says in a statement on the school’s website.
There are a lot of mouths to feed at the UMass system’s flagship campus. Staff there serve 45,000 meals a day, according to the school, which boasts more than two-dozen places to eat, including two food trucks and delivery.
“It is a glorious place, both academically as well as nourishing the body and the mind,” Princeton Review publisher Robert Franek said during an appearance on Today.
The Princeton Review in its food quality survey ranked UMass Amherst 10th in 2012, third in 2013 and 2014 and second in 2015 and 2016.
