A Bridgewater man was arrested Wednesday after police say he was caught watching pornography at the town’s public library.
Fred Wiggins, 43, was spotted watching the adult films on one of library’s computers while performing a lewd act on himself, police said. About 20 people were around, including a 14-year-old girl seated next to him at the same table, the Brockton Enterprise reports.
Wiggins was arrested and charged with lewd and lascivious conduct, accosting or annoying a person of the opposite sex, and disorderly conduct. He was not previously listed in the sex offender registry, police said.
“I commend the library director and his staff for recognizing the seriousness of the incident and taking quick action to insure the safety of others,” Chief Christopher D. Delmonte said in a statement. “Town libraries are symbolic and valuable public resources that benefit the community, especially our youth.”
Wiggins was arraigned Thursday morning in Brockton District Court.
