The Patriots’ historic comeback victory in Super Bowl LI wouldn’t have been possible without Julian Edelman’s impossible catch to keep Tom Brady’s methodical, 10-play, 91-yard drive alive.
But even after James White’s game-winning touchdown in sudden death, Edelman, who was mic’d up for Showtime’s Inside the NFL, refused to believe it was over.
“Get out of the way. Get the fuck off the field!” Edelman tells the incoming cameramen. When Jimmy Garoppolo tried shaking his hand, Edelman shouted, “It’s not over! It’s not over. Get the fuck off the field.”
It took confirmation from Belichick before Edelman was willing to accept the outcome.
BELICHICK: Hey!
EDELMAN: Is it over?
BELICHICK: Yes.
EDELMAN: They gotta review it.
BELICHICK: They reviewed it.
EDELMAN: Really?
BELICHICK: Yeah.
Showtime’s mics also picked up Edelman arguing with Falcons corner Brian Poole over whether or not he made his David Tyree-negating catch.
UNREAL 😳
