David Ortiz Is “Resting Comfortably” at Mass General after another Surgery
His wife Tiffany shared an update on the Red Sox slugger after his arrival in Boston.
After arriving in Boston last night and undergoing surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital, David Ortiz is “stable, awake, and resting comfortably,” his wife Tiffany Ortiz says.
“David arrived at Massachusetts General Hospital last night and underwent a successful second surgery. He is stable, awake, and resting comfortably this morning in the ICU where he is expected to remain for the next several days,” she says in a statement shared via the Boston Red Sox, which also includes words of thanks for Mass General and the Sox. “I want to thank everyone for the outpouring of support and love that we have received during this incredibly difficult time.”
She has also asked for privacy.
Escorted by police, Ortiz arrived at Mass General at about 10:30 p.m. last night. The Red Sox arranged to have its beloved former slugger flown to Boston for treatment. He also spent several hours in emergency surgery in the Dominican Republic, and his condition had been described as stable despite the damage to several internal organs caused by the bullet that reportedly entered his back and exited his stomach.
