Sad Don Orsillo Tweets Sad Dave Matthews Band Song

It’s nearly impossible not to feel for poor Don Orsillo.

After 15 years of superlative work and dedication, the NESN Red Sox play-by-play announcer will not be renewed after this season. It’s indisputably a screw job, the likes of which have not been seen since Montreal 1997. Even worse, Orsillo must finish out the season, broadcasting meaningless baseball, while making no acknowledgment of his situation to a fan base keenly aware of it.

Professional to the very end, Orsillo has refrained from commenting on the matter, staying largely silent on Twitter as well. On Wednesday night, Orsillo tweeted the following:

The lyrics for “Out of My Hands,” off DMB’s 2005 album Stand Up, are dark, only made darker when tweeted by a man who spends his time in a broadcast booth high above Fenway Park.

Though the vast majority of Red Sox Nation has flocked to Orsillo’s defense, his taste in the Dave songbook has officially been called into question, according to Bruins writer and noted DMB scholar Mike Miccoli:
