Harvard Men’s Soccer Team Rated Female Recruits in Sexual ‘Scouting Report’

Update Friday, November 4: Harvard has cancelled the season for the men’s soccer team after an investigation found that players continued to write “scouting reports” after 2012, including this year.

Previously: Members of the 2012 Harvard men’s soccer team compiled a sexually explicit “scouting report” on female recruits, which rated them on their physical attractiveness and perceived sexual ability.

Team members circulated the nine-page document over the group’s email list in July 2012, the Harvard Crimson reports. Until recently, the document was publicly available on Google Groups.

The women were assigned sex positions in addition to their positions on the field, as well as nicknames. “She seems relatively simple and probably inexperienced sexually, so I decided missionary would be her preferred position,” reads one entry. Another dubbed one freshman “Gumbi” because “her gum to tooth ratio is about 1 to 1,” and rated her a 6 out of 10.

“Yeah… She wants cock,” reads another assessment.

Director of Athletics Robert L. Scales called the document “very disappointing and disturbing,” but said that any response would be an “internal Harvard matter,” and “not a media thing.” Earlier this year, a Harvard task-force on sexual assault prevention on campus recommended yearly training for students, as well as greater scrutiny on the school’s all-male finals clubs for their “deeply misogynistic attitudes.”
