Johnny Damon Stumps for Trump in Orlando

There’s more than one former Red Sox star on the Trump train this year.

Retired outfielder Johnny Damon, who expressed his support for the Republican nominee in March, took the stage with Donald Trump in his hometown of Orlando on Wednesday.

“People wonder why I like Donald Trump,” Damon said from the podium. “I actually love the guy. Why? Because he likes winners. He likes to win. He likes everything to be great, not just for him, but for everybody. And he wants America to be great again.”

In his brief speech, the athlete also talked about supporting veterans and lowering taxes, and he called out fellow celebrities for “complaining.”

“All the celebrities out there, the athletes, I mean you guys are complaining about certain things. Come on. I mean, the more money that’s in your pocket the better you’re going to be for yourself, for your community,” he said, without naming names.

Damon, who competed on Trump’s reality TV show Celebrity Apprentice in 2014, was seated prominently behind the candidate at the rally. He joined in when the crowd chanted “lock her up”  and “build that wall,” pumped his fist when Trump talked about repealing Obamacare, and waved a “Make America Great Again” sign.
