Entire Mass., Rhode Island House Delegations Demand Bannon’s Ouster

A total of 169 House Democrats signed Cicilline’s letter, and not one House Republican.

The entire Massachusetts and Rhode Island delegations are among the 120 House members demanding the ouster of President-Elect Donald Trump’s newly appointed senior adviser and strategist Steve Bannon, architect of the racist, anti-LGBTQ, antisemitic site Breitbart News.
Rep. David Cicilline, a Rhode Island Democrat, circulated a letter calling for the immediate removal of Bannon, whose appointment has drawn backlash from Jewish, Muslim, and African American communities alike.
“Your appointment of Stephen Bannon, whose ties to the White Nationalist movement have been well-documented, directly undermines your ability to unite the country,” Cicilline wrote. A full list of the letter’s signers is expected to be released Wednesday.
Massachusetts lawmakers have spoken out against Bannon this week, calling him a white nationalist and an antisemite. Senators Elizabeth Warren and Ed Markey gave a press conference Tuesday beside a large, blue sign that read “FIRE BANNON,” while Rep. Katherine Clark called the hire “exactly the wrong message for Americans who were fearful that Trump will continue his hate, bigotry, and division of the campaign into the White House.”
