About

The Woodward School for Girls is a private all-girls school independent school located in the heart of Quincy Center. Woodward has been educating and empowering young women in grades 6-12 since 1894. Woodward students gain a strong foundation in academic rigor, intellectual growth, risk taking, and independent and creative thinking, which prepares them to be capable, confident, compassionate, and engaged citizens. At Woodward, our low student-teacher ratio promotes individual growth and accomplishment, fosters close relationships between students and staff, and creates a supportive and dynamic atmosphere for learning. Our faculty are constantly encouraging students to try new things, explore their passions and take on leadership opportunities, which rings true to our motto of “We Learn so we may Lead.” Woodward is known its academic excellence, offering college preparatory, honors, and advanced placement courses. Through rigorous academics, Woodward fosters critical and creative thinking, exceptional public speaking, and an active community service involvement. Our students benefit from college counseling starting in the 9th grade, a progressive STEM curriculum, a vibrant visual and performing arts program, Impact learning internship opportunities, competitive athletics, and Woodward’s long-standing traditions. We believe that girls need a supportive environment filled with leadership opportunities that fosters community and experiential learning. Woodward girls empower themselves and others by stepping outside of their comfort zone and taking risks academically and socially. A Woodward education builds confidence and character which provides for a strong foundation for the next phase of their life journey. Woodward students travel from over 17 towns across the greater Boston and South Shore areas as well as a number of countries overseas. Our students are committed to advancing their lives, and the lives of others, through “Generosity, Integrity, Respect/Responsibility, Leadership, and Scholarship.
