Last year, the city put together a first-ever 10-day arts and style event unlike any other. Now, Boston Design Week is back and ready to offer just as many exhibitions, speakers, tours, and more.

March 19 to 29, the second annual design festival will take place throughout neighborhoods around the city, as well as suburbs including Cambridge, West Newton, and Sudbury. More than 25 nonprofit partner organizations are involved this year, and among the many are the Museum of Fine Arts, Massachusetts College of Art and Design, Copley Society of Art, and American Society of Interior Designers.

While many events are taking place around town, festival-goers might want to check out some of the more climactic happenings. On Friday, March 20, the Design Showdown Finalist Competition will showcase a whole bunch of talented student designers in a contest, while the final winners round is to be presented live at the Boston Design Center.

Also, the “Planes, Trains, and Automobiles” exhibit is on display at the MFA on Wednesday, March 25, (Wednesday night admissions are free!). And on March 28, an introductory workshop on home remodeling will take place at the Feinmann Showroom in Lexington.

Of course, Boston Design Week is complete with dozens of exhibitions for every type of design enthusiast. For a complete list of events and participating organizations, check out Boston Design Week’s 2015 calendar.
