Winners Are Selected for the Fenway Park Sleepover
After carful review of over 20,000 entries, the winners of the Airbnb Fenway Park sleepover are Kim Ramsay, of Hamstead, New Hampshire, and her father, Freddie Moran, of Quincy, Massachusetts.
Kim, the oldest of five children, won the prized overnight by writing about Freddie, who worked as a bartender at The Baseball Tavern on Boylston Street for most of his life and who was never able to attend games.
Here’s Kim’s winning statement (kept under a strict word count, as required):
“My dad (76 years old), recently retired, had been a bartender at the Baseball Tavern (on Boylston Street) since the 1960’s. He was a fixture at ‘the Baseball’. Since he worked the bar for every game in Boston, he could never go to an actual game. I would love it if I could take him, especially in high style like this! Staying at the Airbnb! Woohoo! #monstahdream”
In addition to VIP treatment and box seats for tonight’s game versus the NY Yankees, the prize includes a post-game dinner on the right field roof deck, a $500 dollar spending spree at the team store, and an overnight stay in one of the park’s suites—newly decked out with team memorabilia.
As a result of a recent controversy, Tim Wakefield will replace Curt Schilling as the host of tonight’s event.
Because of a health condition, Freddie will not attend tonight’s game, but is thrilled for Kim to go in his honor. Kim will attend the event with her husband Tony.
