Tour Lush Gardens and Pocket Parks Next Weekend

It is the season of garden tours, when generous, green-thumbed Bostonians prop open the gates to their yards so other city dwellers may enjoy them.
On Saturday, June 18, the 23rd annual South End Garden Tour kicks off, where there’ll be live music and artists painting in the tiny green spaces. Land conservation and preservation organization the Trustees has merged with the land trusts that own local public gardens to organize the tour. Tunes from the Community Music Center and live painting from United South End Artists will bring the atmosphere up a notch, and an art sale at the end of the tour will feature works painted that day.
The tour is self-guided, highlighting a mix of more than 20 unique private oases, as well as three Trustees gardens and pocket parks near the Ellis neighborhood in the South End. A few roof deck gardens, school gardens, and backyards will also be in the mix.
The event begins at the Boston Center for the Arts Plaza at the corner of Clarendon and Tremont Streets. Plus, if you volunteer as a garden sitter (sounds rough) you’re rewarded with a free ticket.
The 23rd annual South End Garden Tour takes place Saturday, June 18, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Advance tickets are $24 for Trustees members and $30 for nonmembers. Same day tickets are $28 for Trustees members and $35 for nonmembers. Visit thetrustees.org/segt for more information.
