A New Home Decor Showroom Is Open in Waltham
A new source of design inspiration is officially open in Waltham. Called Modern Relik, the home decor showroom was dreamed up by designer Meg Kimball of MAK Home and Kimball & King.
“Our goal is to help clients write their own stories through design,” says Kimball. “There are so many places where you can go to essentially get a room out of a box. We’re offering an alternative to that.”
Her solution is an airy, industrial space that aims to mix classic styles with the avant garde. Eye-catching displays juxtapose rustic furniture with more contemporary pieces, and include styles ranging from Art Deco to Edwardian. “I have a great appreciation for timeless pieces and antiques,” says Kimball. “I’m also drawn to modern, edgier furnishings.” So, Kimball fused the two styles into one curated collection of housewares.
The showroom consists of several boldly designed vignettes. The “Gem Room,” for example, exhibits pieces of quartz, amethyst, and crystal. One areas offers a selection of lighting that includes both vintage fixtures and classic chandeliers. An indigo-tinted room displays the shop’s Spring 2017 collection, which features Chinoiserie-style Chippendale furniture. Other vignettes showcase table settings, a pillow collection, and more.
