Boston Architecture Cruises Are Back Memorial Day Weekend
Did you know the Longfellow Bridge was named after Henry Wadsworth Longfellow because he often crossed it to court his future wife, Fanny?
There’ll be plenty more historical tidbits where that came from when the Charles River Boat Company’s architecture cruises kick off Memorial Day weekend. Cruises will be offered every day of the week once again this year, so you can get your Boston architecture fix whenever you please.
Co-sponsored by the BSA Foundation and Boston By Foot, the architecture cruises begin May 27 and last until October 15. Weekday cruises will start May 29 and end on September 4, with one tour departing at 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The tours offer panoramic views of both historic and contemporary architecture from that dirty water, including the Charles River Basin, the Charles River Locks, as well as Boston Harbor.
The 90-minute long tours are chock full of fun facts about the city, its buildings, and its evolving skyline. The boat also has a cash bar and an assortment of light snacks.
Tickets are available up to two weeks in advance of a cruise, and reservations are recommended.
