When Mark Haddad, founder of full-service local design firm Interiology Design Co., first came up with the idea to open a space with a curated collection of furnishings, appliances, and home accessories, he says he wanted it to “feel like walking into someone’s home.” That’s exactly the thinking behind the firm’s new Experience Studio, which opened this week in Watertown.

The showroom is a one-stop-shop where clients can explore an array of rooms and test out products as they would use them in their own homes. “It’s really about appealing to all the senses,” Haddad says. That means that when clients first walk into the studio, they’ll be welcomed into one of three kitchens with coffee. Eventually, Haddad hopes they’ll be cooking “all the time” in the model kitchens. To appeal to a wide range of clients, each mock space—from a classic powder blue laundry room to a sleek and modern walk-in closet—ranges in style. The kitchens themselves feature sleek cabinetry from Italian brand Composit as well as Pennville Custom Cabinetry, an Indiana-based brand with a mix of contemporary and classic styles.

Throughout the Experience Studio, there are products available for purchase including furniture, home accessories, lighting, plumbing fixtures, and hardware. The Experience Studio also sells Farrow & Ball paint and wallcoverings, Matouk linens, and furniture from Bolier and Made Goods. Additionally, they’ll feature the work of local artists, such as the colorful landscapes of Boston-based painter Marcia Crumley.

Above all, Haddad hopes that the Experience Studio will attract visitors with a variety of needs, whether they’re clients looking to jumpstart a project with one of the firm’s designers, a member of the trade who wants to track down a particular brand, or a casual shopper who just wants to, as Haddad puts it, stop by and “see what we’re all about.”

Before you head in, take a peek inside the space below.
