Either-Or: An Antique Lowell Manor vs. a New South Boston Build

One price, two cities, and two very different properties. Just 30 miles apart, these two recently sold pads show that urban living comes in many different shapes and sizes. In Lowell, the new owners of a late-1800s Georgian-style manse are now luxuriating in nearly 6,000 square feet of space that includes a carefully maintained chandeliered dining room perfect for Thanksgiving feasts, a clawfoot tub with golden feet in one of the five bathrooms, and even a sprawling ballroom, should they ever need to host a wedding or family reunion.
On the other end of the spectrum is this 850-square-foot condo in Southie. What the year-old unit lacks in size, it makes up for with a glistening kitchen complete with Caesarstone counters and a rear terrace sporting Trex decking. Though neither option lingered on the market for too long, it’s no surprise that buyers snapped up the antique Lowell residence in just over a week—opportunities to own a piece of history don’t come around every day, after all.
