Tasty Burger Unveils Cambridge’s First Parklet
Starting on June 21, Tasty Burger in Harvard Square will officially roll out Cambridge’s first “parklet,” the petite, seasonal patios that are sweeping urban areas throughout the country. These miniature parks, part of a larger effort to reclaim city space for pedestrians and bikers, are typically built in parking lots and include benches, tables, and planters. Tasty Burger’s parklet, built out of mahogany, has been erected over two parking spaces on Mt. Auburn street and will provide seating for up to 15 patrons.
In honor of the first day of summer, Tasty Burger’s Cambridge location will also launch its bike delivery and pre-packed picnic basket services. Through its delivery app, customers can order Tasty Burger to-go, with a delivery radius that spans from the John W. Weeks Bridge to Harvard’s Newell Boathouse. Picnic baskets will be available in-store or through the Tasty app. and will include a frisbee and free tote.
“On the weekends during the summertime, they shut down Memorial Drive and people can just bike or hangout,” says Tasty Burger co-owner Brian Reyelt. “Through our delivery app, we can bring the picnic down to them. It includes its own tote and a frisbee. We’ll also bring it over to the park if anyone is interested. We’re thrilled to have brought a great new way to dine al fresco in Boston.”
