‘Brew at the Zoo’ Happens This Weekend
This weekend, Zoo New England is hosting its fifth annual beer-tasting event, Brew at the Zoo at the Franklin Park Zoo. For the first time at this event, the entire Zoo will be open, so patrons can visit the entire range of animals, from western lowland gorillas to ring-tailed lemurs, while sampling beers from over 30 local and national craft breweries.
In addition, guests will also be able to take a first look at Hopsters limited-edition “Okie’s 21st Birthday Banana Weizen,” brewed in honor of beloved gorilla, Okie, who turned 21 last month. The traditional Bavarian hefeweizen, infused with banana nectar, will be on-tap at Hopsters in Newton following the event, with 30 percent of proceeds benefiting Zoo New England.
Proceeds from Brew at the Zoo support the operation and growth of Franklin Park Zoo, its education programs, and conservation initiatives.
