Best of the Day: Midsommarmiddag Dinner – June 15, 2015

In Sweden, for the summer-solstice celebration of Midsommarmiddag, citizens flee the urban bustle of Stockholm to take refuge in the countryside. It’s a time for reveling in nature, listening to dansbandsmusik, and dancing around the not-so-subtle pagan fertility symbol that is the maypole. Oh, and eating lots and lots of pickled herring.

Even if you can’t escape to the bucolic Scandinavian wilderness this summer, you can still get into the Midsommarmiddag spirit at Beacon Hill Bistro, which is hosting a special Sweden-inspired prix-fixe dinner all week long.

And because we’re celebrating Midsommarmiddag in modern-day Boston and not the winter festival of Fröblot in Sweden’s ancient Gamla Uppsala, no human sacrifices are required to attend this party—you need only shell out 47 bucks.
