On Monday, September 14, a new DIY-Mediterranean joint will join the growing throng of healthy, fast-casual concepts, including Amsterdam Falafelshop’s second location in Kenmore, Dates and Olives in Brighton, and James DiSabatino’s latest, Whole Heart Provisions. Tahaza Hummus Kitchen, a new restaurant specializing in locally-sourced, old-world lunch fare, will open at One Canal Park, near the Lechmere stop in East Cambridge.

First-time restaurant owner, Emily DeBonis, has created a menu of bowls, wraps, and salads, which come topped with a variety of seasonal veggies and custom spreads. Tahaza’s hummus and grain bowls are lined with a swipe of chickpea spread and sauces like sriracha tahini and spicy harissa. The hummus is made in-house daily and pairs with protein options such as slow-cooked beef and lamb with chickpeas. Vegans and vegetarians will also find plenty of options, with falafel and a medley of mushrooms available as meatless protein choices. Additionally, DeBonis has crafted an eclectic beverage menu with seasonal house-made sodas, with flavors like watermelon black pepper and cucumber basil.

Tahaza Hummus Kitchen’s 30-seat space, complete with patio, was designed by McMahon Architects (Pastoral, Townsman). It will open for lunch and dinner from 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
