The Cooking Channel’s Taco Trip Watch Party at the Painted Burro
Chef and TV personality Aarón Sánchez heads to Boston on tonight’s episode of Taco Trip. His Cooking Channel show visits El Pelon, Poe’s Kitchen at the Rattlesnake, the Painted Burro, and Tremont 647. The Painted Burro’s “Chorizo Sánchez,” with house-made chorizo, papas, guacamole, chipotle mayo, and a sunny-side up egg, is highlighted, and the restaurant is running it as a special during a watch party tonight. If you want to watch from the comfort of your own home, the show starts at 10 p.m.
9 – 11 p.m., 219 Elm St., Somerville; 617-776-0005, thepaintedburro.com.
The Rattlesnake’s 25th Anniversary
Okay, so this is a bonus Taco Wednesdays-through-November special. Chef Brian Poe’s Kitchen at the Rattlesnake is honoring 25 years of the Back Bay watering hole with six weeks of throwback taco specials. Poe took over the kitchen in 2009, and he has culled from his recipe book for the “greatest hits,” starting tomorrow with Coca-Cola and molasses-marinated duck, nestled in a tortilla with cranberry-rosemary risotto, foie gras truffle butter, and cotija cheese. The game-inspired chef follows that up with quail; scallop; serrano-stuffed boar; lamb; and turkey tacos on respective Wednesdays through November 25. Plus, Rattlesnake’s signature “mini margarita” is on the menu for $2.50, its original, 1990 cost.
