Local 149 Hosts Previews of its Soon-to-Open Sibling This Week
The Neighborhood Restaurant Group, which has brought you the Biltmore Bar & Grille in Newton, Local 149 in South Boston, and Biltmore & Main in Reading, have had a Brighton concept in the works for more than a year. Article 24 will debut on Western Avenue later this month, but in the meantime, you can get a taste of the new, casual spot at Local 149 this week.
During dinner hours on Thursday and Friday, Article 24’s executive chef Mark Allen is taking over the South Boston kitchen. He’ll share a few menu items, including a turkey burger au poivre with mushrooms, brie, and Russian dressing; and a double-cut pork chop, pictured above. Check out the full pop-up menu below.
Allen is a seasoned culinarian; he owned Le Soir in Newton; and helmed the kitchens at Boston’s Ritz-Carlton (now the Taj), Pine Brook Country Club, Towne Stove & Spirits, and his own Mark Allen Restaurant and Café Napa Valley, California.
Article 24—named for the right to rest and leisure, per the United Nations’ Declaration of Human Rights—will be a fun, music-centered spot for the burgeoning Western Ave. neighborhood, Eater Boston reported. Expect a DJ booth in the dining room, and musically-themed brunches, plus a “creative, interactive, approachable” menu, and cocktails. At the preview, try a citrusy, habanero-infused vodka libation, called Full Consent.
The Neighborhood Restaurant Group has had a busy year. Local 149 got an unexpected update, when the team had to shutter for several weeks this winter because of a burst pipe; check out new artwork, barstools, and menu items when you’re there for the Article 24 preview. In addition to Biltmore & Main, which debuted in the fall, chief operations officer Henry Pariseau and his team are working on two new, suburban concepts in Lynn and Andover, Eater reported.
