Have a Cocktail Tonight at GrandTen Bar

Craft connoisseurs in Malden already got a new Idle Hands Craft Ales taproom this week, and now the weekend brings a still-to-glass cocktail bar to GrandTen Distilling’s South Boston distillery.
GrandTen Bar manager Steve Schnelwar (Tavern Road, 80 Thoreau) is behind the opening menu, originals and classic cocktail riffs created with ingredients made on-site, Eater Boston reported.
“As our spirit, tincture, and shrub catalog grows over time, we will begin to move into uncharted territory by offering more complex and unique cocktails entirely still-to-glass,” production manager Wes Dalton told Eater.
GrandTen, founded in 2011, is best known for its South Boston Irish Whiskey and Wireworks Gin. In retail markets, it currently offers 11 spirits, including Medford Rum, Fire Puncher Vodka, and Amandine liqueur. The on-site cocktail bar makes it possible for the distillers to experiment with other small batches, cofounder Matt Nuernberger told Boston earlier this year.
“The market is pretty small. You’re not going to be able to really run [everything] through a distribution system. The fact that we’ll have the bar open, we’ll be able to use things in our own cocktails,” he said.
This weekend, taste one such experiment yourself: Dorry & Martin uses 383 Vermaro, along with Wireworks Special Reserve and Angelica liqueur. That drink is among the Strong & Spiritous section of the menu. Feel like something a little more refreshing? Try one of the bubbly Highballs, or a Citrus sipper. Check out the full opening menu below.
GrandTen Bar (originally called Bar 383) has been in the works for more than a year, thanks to $20,000 in crowdfunding. It’s another attraction at GrandTen’s production facility, which will continue to offer tours.
The bar itself has 12 seats, and the 1,600-square foot room has farmhouse tables and high tops for another 20 guests. It’s open Thursday 4-11 p.m., Friday 4-midnight, Saturday 1 p.m.-midnight, and Sunday 1-8 p.m.
