Luke’s Diner Pops Up in Brighton This Week
You can channel your inner Lorelai Gilmore this week with a gratis cup of coffee at Luke’s Diner—without leaving Boston. While the endearingly garrulous mom from Gilmore Girls would get her mug filled for free because of her flirty, slow-building romance with the diner’s proprietor, all you have to do is visit a Brighton cafe.
Cafenation is one of 200 places nationwide that are transforming into Luke’s Diner pop-ups this Wednesday, October 5, in honor of the beloved TV show’s forthcoming Netflix reboot. Elsewhere in New England, Land of a Thousand Hills Coffee in Lynn, and spots in Providence, Portland, Burlington, Vt., Manchester, New Hampshire, and Hartford, Conn. will also be transported to Stars Hollow for the day, Eater reports.
While the pot is full, guests can get a free cup of coffee between 7 a.m.-noon. Each pop-up Luke’s will be decked out with homages to the original, including requisite aprons and T-shirts, and Netflix promises other surprises, too.
Besides marathoning old Gilmore Girls episodes, the Luke’s takeover is your best chance to get a taste of Stars Hollow before the four-part Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life begins streaming on Netflix November 25. That is, unless you’re among the superfans who helped sell out a Gilmore Girls Fan Fest coming up later this month in Washington, Conn., the quaint community that inspired the fictional Stars Hollow.
