Yo! Sushi Opens in Boston October 26
All aboard the sushi train: Yo! Sushi softly opens its first Boston shop on Monday, October 24, with a grand opening planned for Wednesday, October 26.
The London-born chain specializes in kaiten, or conveyor belt sushi, though it also offers Japanese street food-style bites, salads, soups, and more. Executive chef Mike Lewis’s Boston menu will have more than 80, “Tokyo-inspired” plates, including sweet and sour nanbanzuke (fried yellowtail and house pickled vegetables on steamed rice) and other rice and noodle dishes; a miso karaage chicken bun with house-pickled cucumber and miso mayo; the Osaka street food speciality takoyaki (fried dough balls with octopus, topped with mayo and bonito), seared tuna and caviar sashimi, and more. Plates range from $3-$7.
The company’s restaurants (early next year, it will opens its 100th in New York City) are all outfitted with a conveyor belt around a central, open kitchen. The interior design is also inspired by Japan, with colorful, graphic art, sleek black accents, steel, and exposed brick. In Boston, the 2,225-square foot location is on the ground floor of the Watermark Seaport building, which is also home to the newest Shake Shack. It’s also where Better Bagels is opening its first brick-and-mortar, and Ben & Jerry’s is moving in, too.
Yo! Sushi will be open for both lunch and dinner, and will also offer takeout. To celebrate its first Massachusetts location, Yo! Sushi is offering discount coupons to guests who sign up online through November 4.
