Snack Attack: Milkshakes at Stoked Wood Fired Pizza Co.
It’s been a few months since Stoked Wood Fired Pizza Co. graduated from food truck to Brookline brick-and-mortar. With its new 49-seat haunt, the pizzeria expanded on its menu of stellar pies to include small bites, rotating specials, and a full bar. But until now, sweets were largely absent from that list.
Partners Scott Riebling and Toirm Miller are changing that with a new lineup of classic and boozy milkshakes. The shakes debut this weekend, and will only be available at the Brookline restaurant (sorry, food truck fans).
“We inherited an awesome milkshake machine from the previous tenant, and I had it in the back of my mind to do these,” Miller says. “We have been super busy since we opened, so I just now got around to developing the recipes.”
The restaurant will launch with three classic shakes—chocolate, vanilla, chocolate malt—and four boozy ones. The latter feature more inventive recipes, such as the maple bourbon hot honey, which uses Vermont maple syrup and Mad River Distillers bourbon; and the Stoked Rock shake, a spin on McDonald’s Shamrock Shake that blends house-made mint syrup with vodka.
There will also be a rotating, special flavor each week. Up first is chocolate-covered raspberry.
Miller sees these treats as more of an accompaniment to the restaurant’s core offerings, rather than separate dessert options. He and his team just love ice cream, and they wanted to showcase that passion on the menu. Even if it is the dead of winter.
“We really feel like it’s a great fit with the rest of our menu, and hope guests will feel the same way,” Miller says. “There is hardly a day that goes by that I don’t indulge in ice cream in one form or another. It doesn’t matter to me whether it’s 20 degrees out or 90.”
