Snack Attack: Table Talk Pies at a New Worcester Café

After 20 years, you can finally visit a brick-and-mortar store for these beloved treats.

If you grew up in Massachusetts, chances are you’ve given into a craving for the snackable pies from Table Talk—the grab-and-go treats are sold pretty much everywhere. But for the first time in two decades, the Worcester company has its own retail shop and café, MassLive reported.

The new Worcester store opened yesterday. There, diners can peruse a rotating menu of the company’s 4- and 8-inch pies to eat on-site, including slightly cheaper “thrift” pies, and stack their choice with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. There’s also tea, coffee, and hot chocolate.

The cheap prices the company is known for are there to stay, too: 4-inch thrift pies run around 50 cents, and the pristine pies don’t breach $4.

This pie store is still a reopening, though. The company, founded in 1924, once had a retail shop on Green Street, but it was swept to the wayside until current owner Harry Kokkinis decided to revive the concept. He represents the third generation of his family to lead the business, regaining control from a group of corporate owners in the early 2000s, MassLive noted.

The company is in the midst of a nostalgia-fueled resurgence in Massachusetts, and is even building another production plant in South Worcester, the Worcester Telegram & Gazette reported. A few local companies have shown their excitement about the pie shop’s second coming: Wormtown recently brewed a pumpkin ale with Table Talk Pies, and Parlor Ice Cream Co. owner Jacqueline Dole occasionally spins a Table Talk-inspired flavor among her many homages to New England.

Table Talk Pies store will be open Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday through Saturday, from 9 a.m.-5 p.m., and Sundays from 9 a.m.-2 p.m.
