LoLa 42 Opens Tonight in the Seaport
A taste of Nantucket—and Japan, and the Mediterranean, etc.—has arrived on Fan Pier. LoLa 42, a sibling bistro and sushi bar to Nantucket’s LoLa 41, opens on the ground level of Twenty Two Liberty tonight at 5 p.m.
The restaurant is named for its latitudinal location, and the menu nods to countries along the 42nd parallel. There’s pretty much everything: Japanese izakaya snacks and sushi, burgers, including lamb burger with harissa; littlenecks with black bean sauce, macaroni and cheese… Check out the opening menu in full below.
Marco Coelho is behind the Seaport’s latest. He also owns LoLa 41, LoLa Burger, and Station 21 on Nantucket, and Sails American Bar & Grille in Rowayton, Conn. Corporate chef Robert “Boz” Boswell is behind all of the restaurants’ menus, including this one.
The 3,700-square foot LoLa 42 is about double the size of the original, seating about 80 to Nantucket’s 41. LoLa 42 will also eventually have a 40-seat patio, which will roll out in the coming weeks. A sushi bar seats 12, while an additional bar has 13 seats. Along with a cocktail and wine program, there will also be sake, says director of operations Kate Adomio.
The original space has a small, red, private dining room, so in designing the location at Twenty Two Liberty, the team created a larger “red room.” It seats about 30, which will be for regular dining on nights without an event, Adomio says.
To start, LoLa 42 is open nightly from 5 p.m. until last call, with the kitchen open 5:30-11 p.m. Lunch, and potentially weekend brunch, will start in the coming weeks.
