Somerville Has a New Doughnut and Bagel Shop

Davis Square Donuts & Bagels also carries breakfast sandwiches and cinnamon buns.

The morning commute through Davis Square has a new source of fuel: Davis Square Donuts & Bagels opened today at 5:30 a.m.

Eater Boston has been monitoring the progress of this startup doughnut shop—no relation to a certain bakery in another Somerville square—for about two years.

Owner George Dardonis plans a scratch-made range of doughnuts including old fashioned and chocolate-glazed, maple bacon, Oreo, peanut butter and jelly, Nutella-filled, and more, he told Eater. Plus: cinnamon buns, 15 flavors of New York-style bagels, house-made flavored cream cheese, egg sandwiches, and Peet’s Coffee and Tea.

The shop is located next door to the Rosebud, and inside, it has a Somerville-themed mural painted by a local artist. Davis Square Donuts has two levels of seating, plus an outdoor patio. Eater reports there’s also free Wifi.
