The Yvonne’s Team Is Opening a Spanish Spot in Woburn
No rest for the COJE Management team. Not only did the restaurant group follow up their stunner, Yvonne’s, with a revamped Lolita Cocina and the rainbow-hued Ruka this year; they also have a second Lolita in the works, apparently a cigar bar, and a Spanish tapas spot on the way to Woburn.
Matadora just surfaced on Instagram, with the bio teasing “tailored tapas & cocktails” and an October 2017 opening at the newly renovated Hilton Boston/Woburn hotel.
Boston Restaurant Talk uncovered the first job listings for the forthcoming Matadora back in June, which promised “bespoke design, curated cuisine and an urban sensibility”—all things we expect by now from managing partners Chris Jamison and Mark Malatesta and culinary director Tom Berry. The team is still hiring front- and back-of-house positions for the Spanish steak and tapas concept.
Boston has reached out to COJE Management representation for more on Matadora. In the meantime, if you find yourself in Woburn, do not overlook a stretch of Asian restaurants along the city’s Main Street, including the Cilantro, 3 Country Bistro, and Zaika Indian Bistro—the trio is surprisingly excellent. And are you aware GQ says one of the country’s best cocktail bars is in the north-of-Boston city?
Spanish tapas and the flair we know (and love) from this venerable restaurant group sounds like a welcome addition to Woburn’s dining and nightlife scene.
