Brato Brewhouse + Kitchen Teases Upcoming Beers and Bites
A prolific beer-and-sausage team takes its links on the road.
Craft-beer maker Alex Corona and chef Jonathan Gilman are still prepping for the opening of Brato Brewhouse + Kitchen in Brighton, but in the meantime, they’re happy to show us how the sausage is made. The pair is building big hype with near-constant pop-ups, serving creative comfort food (think: gourmet grilled cheese flights and artisanal sausages in flavors like Cubano pork and lamb harissa) at local taprooms, including breweries where they’ve partnered on unique beers. For example: Smokey the Beer, a lager made with beech- and cherry-wood-smoked malts. It was created with Lamplighter Brewing Co. in Cambridge, where Brato has a standing pop-up presence on Saturdays. Brato has even raised funds using MainVest, part of a grassroots approach to building buzz for its brand. “At every step, we want to get the community involved,” Gilman says.
