Recent James Beard Award winner for Best Chef Northeast, Barry Maiden, has announced that he’s leaving both State Park and Hungry Mother to open his own restaurant projects. With that news, the other Hungry Mother principals (John Kessen and Rachel and Alon Munzer) have decided to shutter the beloved Southern restaurant on July 3. State Park will not be affected by Maiden’s departure, and will remain open in its current state. See below for the complete statement from the Munzers:

After more than seven great years, Hungry Mother will close on July 3rd. We are so grateful for all the support and patronage we have received over the years and honored to have served so many appreciative guests. Barry Maiden, recently named James Beard Best Chef Northeast 2015, will be leaving the team at Hungry Mother and State Park to move on to other projects. The rest of the team will open a new concept in our much beloved cozy corner space on Cardinal Medeiros and will continue to welcome you at State Park. As we all look back on the great times we have had, we are excited to celebrate Hungry Mother in this final month. We look forward to feeding you soon.
