Here’s Your First Look At Southern Kin
Southern Kin Cookhouse, the fourth concept from the group that brought you Wink & Nod, the Tap Trailhouse, and Griddler’s, is on its way to Assembly Row early next year.
Inside, it will have an Americana vibe — including a giant American flag behind the 14-seat bar. Reclaimed wood, exposed brick, wrought iron, and crimson accents, envisioned by Rhode Island firm Morris Nathanson Design, will give the 100-plus-seat space an energetic yet cozy feel. Operable windows will let in ample natural light. Come spring, there will be more seating options, courtesy of a 60-seat wrap-around patio.
The open kitchen will send out Southern fare, including country fried steak and blackened alligator tacos. Boston Nightlife Ventures’ chief culinary officer Bill Brodsky was formerly executive chef of The Charleston Place Hotel’s Palmetto Café in Charleston, S.C., and Southern Kin’s concept delves into his roots and passions for lowcountry cuisine and more. Curated by the group’s beverage director, Michael Boughton, the bar will focus on American whiskey, with more than 100 varieties, house infusions, and flights.
Southern Kin is aiming for a late January/early February debut with daily lunch and dinner, plus weekend brunch.
