Loyal Nine Debuts Sunday Brunch This Weekend
Loyal Nine, one of the city’s top new restaurants, launches Sunday brunch this weekend. Since the historically-minded, regionally-focused concept opened in the spring, chef Marc Sheehan and pastry chef Adam Ross have offered daily a range of breads, pastries, breakfast sandwiches, teas, and specialty coffees at an adjacent café, but the new menu has more substantial, East Coast fare.
The brunch offerings feature Atlantic seafood, found in dishes like lobster popovers with smoked pork fat hollandaise; baked eggs with mussels, parsley, and dulse seaweed; and a fried clam and bacon sandwich. New England produce plays a prominent role, including an Augusta potato rosti with creamed chipped beef, fish pepper relish, and a fried egg. Ross is highlighting heirloom grains, as well, with options like buckwheat sourdough pancakes and “sourdoughnuts.”
Loyal Nine’s coffee program will be in full swing, with a large selection of drip coffees, espresso drinks, cold brew, nitro-poured coffee on draft, espresso tonic, and more available. Bartender Fred Yarm will sling traditional brunch drinks, including bloody Marys and bloody Caesars (with clam juice), plus Micheladas, tiki drinks, and a few large format cocktails.
Brunch starts Sunday, November 1 and is served 10:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m.
