Tasty Burger Now Open in Dudley Square

Dudley Square just got a little more Tasty. The Boston-based burger joint Tasty Burger opened its fifth outlet in the heart of Roxbury over the weekend.

Located inside the Bolling municipal building, the new restaurant seats 120 across 3,400 square feet. The bright space has Tasty Burger’s trademark red walls, and a mural by local artists, giving it a sense of place. Scott Chasse and Kenji Nakayama created the blown graphite and primary-colored painting of the MBTA bus, and photographs by Wayne Chinook also depict the neighborhood.

“We feel a connection to neighborhoods that have a strong community, yet are underserviced,” Tasty Burger CEO Dave DuBois said in a press release. “Dudley [Square] has been the heart of the Roxbury community for as long as anybody can remember. At the end of the day, we’re a neighborhood restaurant group,” he told Boston last week.

In addition to the headquarters of the Boston Public School District, the Bolling building also houses two other new eateries, a profit-sharing pizzeria called Dudley Dough and Dudley Café, a coffeeshop from the Shanti Boston Group.

DuBois’ Franklin Group has Tasty Burger locations on Boylston Street in Fenway as well as inside Fenway Park; plus Harvard Square, South Boston, and Back Bay. It also operates Franklin Café in the South End and Citizen Public House in Fenway. Next, it’s bringing its burger concept to Washington, D.C., next, as well as working on a new, Jewish deli concept, Our Fathers’ Deli, for Lower Allston.

Tasty Burger is open daily 11 a.m.-9 p.m. in Dudley Square, with breakfast launching in the coming weeks. It offers the classic roadside burgers, made with all-natural and antibiotic-free beef; plus hot dogs, fries, onion strings, shakes, and beer and wine.
