Get Your Tickets for Our 2-Night Food Fest
Is there anything better than a summer night full of cocktails and barbecue? There is: It’s following up that gustatory extravaganza with beefy burgers and more booze the next night. Boston magazine’s annual two-night summer food festival returns to Cruiseport Boston next month, and tickets are going fast for the Cue and Battle of the Burger.
On Tuesday, August 9, nearly 20 area restaurants are firing up the smokers for the Cue, and they’ll be accompanied by a dozen mixologists from Boston’s best bars. You’ll nosh on all-you-can-eat fare from Sweet Cheeks Q and the Smoke Shop, of course, but will also have a chance to see how spots like Neptune Oyster and Worcester’s new Deadhorse Hill handle the heat. All the while, sip Mount Gay Black Barrel Rum cocktails shaken by top bartenders—and vote for your favorite. Check out the full lineup of the Cue guests below.
Joe Gatto, author of the newly-released cookbook Seriously From Scratch and host of the From Scratch TV show, hosts the event, and Boston-based retro pop outfit Amy & the Engine and DJ Leah V will keep the party going. Plus: Feel even better about going up on a Tuesday. Partial ticket proceeds go toward Share Our Strength’s fight against childhood hunger.
The next night, save room for an epic Battle of the Burger. Chef Ming Tsai (Blue Ginger, Blue Dragon) is back again in the host’s seat, alongside emcee Jason Rossi of 92.9 WBOS. The menu features all your favorites: You, dear readers, selected the 25 participating restaurants, one of which will take home the glory after you try them all. (You can do it!)
But who won’t be in the lineup this year? Lynn favorite, the Blue Ox. Chef Matt O’Neil hit the three-win quota last year, which opens up this year’s field to a brand new champion. O’Neil will be on hand, though—he’s preparing a special side dish for VIP ticketholders, and he’s on the panel judging this year’s Home Griller competition.
Nemes, Boston’s favorite violin-shredding indie rockers, and DJ Knife are providing the soundtrack at this year’s Battle of the Burger, and partial ticket proceeds benefit Family Reach.
