Blaze Pizza Opens Today in Fenway
California-based Blaze Pizza has benefitted from Tom Werner’s pocketbook: the Red Sox co-owner is one of the fast-casual pizzeria’s famous investors.
Now, Werner can grab a fast-fired pie whenever he wants to, close to his workplace. At 11 a.m. today, Blaze opened its second Boston-area location in the shadow of Fenway Park. The 2,600-square foot shop seats 54, with an additional 44 seats on a patio just across the street from Yawkey Way.
Along with Werner, LeBron James, Maria Shriver, and her son, Patrick Schwarzenegger, are the pizza chain’s other notable backers.
Cofounded in 2012 by the couple behind Wetzel’s Pretzels and chef Bradford Kent, Blaze offers personal, thin-crust pizzas with consciously sourced toppings, fired up in just a few minutes. Create your own, or choose from specialties like Green Stripe, with pesto drizzled over grilled chicken, roasted red peppers, chopped garlic, mozzarella, and arugula, and Link In, with Italian sausage, roasted red peppers, sautéed onions, mozzarella, and red sauce. It also sells salads, s’more pies, and drinks, like blood orange lemonade.
Blaze has more than 150 restaurants in the U.S. and Canada. BGR Hospitality is the franchise group developing the brand in Massachusetts. The first Boston-area shop opened in Cambridge earlier this year, and a third is on track for a later November debut at City Place, near Boston Common and Emerson College.
Following Blaze on Instagram, Twitter, or Facebook? Stop into the new shop today before 10 p.m., show the staff your “likes,” and get a free build-your-own pie.
