Following a successful summertime series with Notch Brewing, chef Tony Maws is celebrating fall Fridays with special lunch services with Framingham brewery Exhibit ‘A.’ Reserve an $18 burger ahead of time, while a small menu of additional lunch options and pints are pay-as-you-go. The series kicks off October 6, and continues November 3 and December 8.

The Ramen Bar at Pabu Boston
Boston doesn’t have the Ramen Bar, San Francisco’s popular fast-casual spot by acclaimed chefs Michael Mina and Ken Tominaga. But we do have Pabu, their upscale izakaya and sushi bar. And beginning Sunday, October 8, Pabu Boston transforms into the Ramen Bar with a new, weekly pop-up throughout the fall. Loud hip hop, buckets of beer, and mix-and-match boilermakers from the bar staff will be served up alongside build-your-own bowls of ramen, select sushi rolls, and more.
Sundays, October 8-November, 5-9 p.m., Pabu, 3 Franklin St., Boston, 857-327-7228, michaelmina.net.
“The Last Supper” with Sam Kass
This month, the culture lab at Cafe ArtScience hosts former Obama White House chef and senior nutrition policy advisor Sam Kass. During the four-course dinner, Kass will lead a discussion on the sustainable future of food. And it’s not just any menu—ArtScience chef de cuisine Carolina Curtin is highlighting ingredients like chocolate, shellfish, pistachios, and more that are at risk due to climate change. Check out the full menu online, where you can also reserve tickets.
$175, Monday, October 9, 6:30-9:30 p.m., Café ArtScience, 650 East Kendall St., Cambridge, 857-999-2193, artsciencelabs.org, Eventbrite.
Brato and Night Shift Harvest Pop-Up
The Brato Brewhouse + Kitchen pop-up tour continues before the startup brewpub finds a home (in Brighton, perhaps?). For this one, Brato cofounder and current Cambridge Brewing Co. brewer Alex Corona has made a smoked corn lager in conjunction with Night Shift Brewing. Brato (and current CBC) chef Jonathan Gilman is pairing it with complementary snacks. Everything is priced a la carte.
Tuesday, October 10, 5-10 p.m., Night Shift Brewing, 87 Santilli Hwy, Everett, Facebook.
Complimentary Cicchetti with Cassie Piuma
Cicchetti, like ricotta crostini, pork and beef polpette, and potato crocchette, is on any night of the week at SRV, thanks to co-owners and chefs Kevin O’Donnell and Michael Lombardi. But for the first time, the James Beard Award-nominated duo is inviting another pro into the kitchen. Cassie Piuma, nationally recognized for her globally minded mezze at Sarma (and before that, Oleana), is the guest of honor at SRV’s first-ever cicchetti takeover. Her menu is in the works, but you can expect bite-sized beauties from this multi-time Beard nominee—at no cost. Piuma’s specials are on the house, available only at the sleek bar and standing bacaro, while SRV’s typical cicchetti are available for purchase, and dinner service continues as usual in the dining room.
Wednesday, October 11, 9-11 p.m., SRV, 569 Columbus Ave., South End, Boston, 617-536-9500, srvboston.com.

Boston Public Market Harvest Party
It’s been a bustling two years at the Boston Public Market—and that calls for a celebration. The local food hall is hosting its second annual fundraiser and fête of New England farmers, fishermen, and culinary entrepreneurs, with an exclusive Chef’s Table dinner followed by a boisterous Market Party. The chef’s dinner ($500, includes a ticket to the party) showcases the market’s bounty over an intimate evening of culinary collaborations. Afterwards, the party features interactive vendor demos, free samples, a raffle, live music (and dancing!) with Berklee College of Music, take-home treats, and more. Tickets ($50) include one local libation, with a cash bar on the rest of the night. Proceeds from the celebratory evening support the Boston Public Market Association’s mission.
Chef’s Table, 5:30-7 p.m., Market Party, 7-10 p.m., Thursday, October 19, Boston Public Market, 100 Hanover St., Boston, Eventbrite.
Basic Batch Donuts
Bar Mezzana pastry chef Christina Larson indulges her love of doughnuts with a cheekily named pop-up there every third Saturday of the month. The inaugural pop-up last month sold out early, so set your alarms. Guests get complimentary doughnut holes while they wait for full-size flavors like Pie Like you Berry Much, Birthday Cake, and the salted caramel-chocolate-coconut Girl Scout Cookie.
$3.50-$4 per doughnut, Saturday, October 21, 10 a.m.-noon, Bar Mezzana, 360 Harrison Ave., South End, 617-530-1770, barmezzana.com.
New England Cider Week
The beverage director of a venerable group of spots—the Hawthorne, Branch Line, Les Sablons, Row 34, and more—is bringing his bars and cider makers together during the first-ever New England Cider Week from October 24-31. Several different events, from tap takeovers, to a “fireside chat,” to a Shacksbury-and-bocce party, and more, descend upon all of the properties Cannon oversees with restaurateur Garrett Harker. Check out the full lineup of events and featured cider makers online, and follow along on Instagram and Facebook to stay in touch.

Dia de los Muertos Block Party
Taza Chocolate—which uses Mexican molinos (stone mills) to grind its traditional-style chocolate—is getting a gang together for its seventh annual Dia de los Muertos celebration. In addition to free hot chocolate and other samples, Taco Party, Tenoch Mexican, Q’s Nuts, Honeycomb Creamery, and more are bringing food for purchase. Neighbors Bantam Cider and Somerville Brewing (Slumbrew) will provide the boozy libations for an afternoon of live music, face-painting, and more family-friendly fun.
Saturday, October 28 (raindate: Sunday, October 29), noon-5 p.m., Taza Chocolate, 561 Windsor St., Somerville, tazachocolate.com, Facebook.
