A Movie Map of Romantic Comedies Set in Boston

While most Boston movies usually feature gun-toting gangsters and terrible accents, the city has also hosted plenty of romantic movie moments too. Boston has been the setting for a number of rom coms over the years, ranging from Next Stop Wonderland (1998) to What’s Your Number? (2011).

With Valentine’s Day approaching, those still looking for plans might want to consider taking their significant other on a date inspired by local spots featured on film.

Fever Pitch – Fenway Park: Even when it’s a little cold out, there’s no bigger attraction in Boston than Fenway Park. If you and your loved one are super Red Sox fans like Jimmy Fallon and Drew Barrymore’s characters, then this is the perfect date-night rom com for you.

Ted – Sorellina: Grab a reservation and hit up this Copley Square restaurant, which was featured in Seth McFarlane’s 2012 comedy. Hopefully you’ll have a more romantic time than Mark Wahlberg and Mila Kunis, whose characters got into a bit of tiff during a scene set at the eatery.

My Best Friend’s Girl – Smith & Wollensky: The Back Bay restaurant was featured in the final scene of this 2008 Boston-based comedy starring Kate Hudson and Boston-bred comic Dane Cook.

I Don’t Know How She Does It – Massachusetts State House: The State House—which makes a cameo in the Sarah Jessica Parker comedy—may not be the first spot that comes to mind when planning a lovely stroll around town, but its awesome location near the Common makes it an ideal jumping off point for couples looking to check out the city’s sites.

What’s Your Number? – Post Office Square: The lovely park at Post Office Square was used for a wedding scene in this romantic comedy starring Anna Faris and Boston’s own Chris Evans.

Legally Blonde – Harvard: Reese Witherspoon and company didn’t actually film in town, but Harvard did serve as the setting for this 2001 comedy. Since Elle Woods met her husband at the university, it’s definitely a romantic spot worth visiting.

Next Stop Wonderland – Wonderland Station: People find love in the strangest places, like the MBTA’s Blue Line, which was used in this 1998 romantic comedy starring Hope Davis.
