Walk the Walk: Inside Boston’s Iconic Making Strides Event
The biggest event of the year for Making Strides (ACS’s national network of breast cancer events) is their annual breast cancer walk, with communities all over the country gathering to demonstrate support. On Sundays throughout the month of October, this 3- to 5- mile, noncompetitive walk is not only a scenic way to spice up your regular fitness routine, but an important way to show up for, and champion, those impacted by this disease.
By registering in advance, you can set and meet your own fundraising goals, with points and rewards attached to each dollar raised. To involve your whole family in the spirit of community, try fundraising and walking as a team, or registering as individuals for a lighthearted fundraising contest. Registration is also available day-of for any last-minute volunteers who want to get involved after coming across this large and powerful scene.
This year’s Boston Strides will take place on Sunday, October 1, at the DRC Hatch Shell on the Esplanade.
