ICYMI: This Chestnut Hill Lifestyle Destination had a Major Summer Expansion
While you were away this summer—hitting the Cape or jet-setting on vacations—our area’s retail scene didn’t sit still. As you settle back into life in Boston and prepare for those fall-season shopping sprees, you’re surely looking forward to reacquainting yourself with all your favorite retailers—but with the new spots that have popped up while you were enjoying the summer, there’s also a chance to explore and find some new favorites.
Over the summer, The Street Chestnut Hill underwent a major expansion to give Boston-area shoppers—from retail enthusiasts to the wellness-focused—even more options. Adding onto its already robust catalogue of beloved brands (like Hummingbird Books, Warby Parker, lululemon, Showcase SuperLux and Shake Shack), The Street took the opportunity to deepen its community impact, adding retailers that represent the favorites of Boston shoppers and stand-out local businesses.
It’s through a reimagined development at 27 Boylston St.—a three-level, 90,000-square-foot building featuring specialty retail, wellness and fitness concepts, and eateries—that The Street has expanded its repertoire to create an even more vibrant atmosphere for shoppers, full of both locally and nationally beloved offerings. Whether you’re in need of a fresh look for the season ahead, an on-the-go meal for the family, or a sanctuary to step back and focus on self-care, The Street has more than 15 new spots to explore and spend the day. Here’s what’s on our to-do list.
3 Reasons Why It’s Worth A Visit
Discover a new favorite look
Your city favorites are now at your fingertips in the heart of Chestnut Hill. In 2024, The Street has welcomed numerous men’s and women’s apparel retailers to the property—from sustainable fashion favorite Reformation, to California-inspired brand Marine Layer, to everyday luxury jewelry operator Mejuri, to locally-owned boutique WHEAT.
WHEAT, a lifestyle brand by husband-and-wife duo Huw Collins and Molly Shaheen, emblems The Street’s commitment to highlighting the best of local businesses—and that community feel is evident in WHEAT’s brand as well. Shaheen grew up in the New England area, and before moving from the UK, Boston was the first place Collins ever visited in the US. Inspired by the wanderlust of the modern traveler, Collins and Shaheen have curated their Chestnut Hill location with sought-after brands including Zimmerman, Frank + Eileen, Agolde, and Missoni.
“We identify a unique sense of place through our clothes, determining what makes a place special and exciting,” says Collins.
In part, it’s his and Shaheen’s personal connections to the community that inspire their passion—and it’s that passion and intentionality that the neighborhood has responded so positively to. “We’ve had such a warm welcome to The Street,” says Shaheen. “We’re excited to continue getting to know the community here.”
In addition to destinations for workwear, occasion wear and everyday staples, we’re also interested in practical gear for our workouts, activities and adventures—whether we’re running down the Charles River Esplanade, heading to an exercise class, taking a hike with the family to check out the fall foliage, or just looking for some warm clothes as the temperature drops. With retailers like Alo Yoga—a beloved spot for comfortable, supportive and long-lasting workout essentials—and Arc’teryx—a go-to for your next outdoor adventure—you can get all the apparel you’ll need this season with a trip to The Street.
Refresh with wellness
Whether it’s squeezing a treat-yourself moment into your busy schedule or centering a day around self-care, The Street’s new additions bring opportunities to put yours and your family’s health and wellness first.
To get back into the routines that summer can pull us all out of, reintegrating yourself into your workout regimen can be a great place to start—and a morning wake-up at [solidcore]’s new location at The Street might just be calling your name. And to post-game your workout with some unparalleled relaxation, Sweathouz, coming soon to The Street, offers a recovery experience like no other: Sweat it out in an Infrared Sauna or take a Cold Plunge to seal in the benefits of your workout.
And exercise isn’t the only thing you can do to care for your body. To keep your skin healthy and glowing as we transition into the chillier months of the year, discover Skin Laundry. Their dermatologist-approved laser facials deliver long-term results through short (lunch-break-approved) treatments and leave you feeling and looking refreshed.
Indulge in quick bites and sweet treats
A meal or sweet treat can make your day—and with an eye on the favorites of New England’s food scene, The Street boasts some fresh, delicious options. Coming soon to The Street is locally founded Pink Carrot, JoAnn Bertolino’s Boston-based health food restaurant, which fuels rich tastes with organic and fresh ingredients.
Pink Carrot’s presence echoes The Street’s commitment to the community, and Bertolino, too, embeds that community focus into her restaurants. With a healthy, organic and creative menu that Bertolino designed to serve diverse palates—from health-focused moms to the picky eaters they’re raising—Pink Carrot has something for everyone. (But if you ask us, be sure to try the Almond Joy smoothie and the chicken Mojo wrap!)
“At our other locations, we see a lot of customers coming in before or after workouts to pick up healthy foods, and we also see families coming in to sit down for lunch or breakfast. I can’t wait to see that pattern continue at The Street,” Bertolino says.
And a fall-season return to Boston will do more than just make your stomach happy—though with The Street’s new treat spots, like Van Leeuwen’s creative ice cream tastes, Bridgewater Chocolate’s classic decadence, and The Half Cookie’s exciting flavors, there are palette pleasing bites for every member of the family. As summer rounds out and the leaves change, it’s the perfect time to immerse yourself into all that you love about our area, and whether it’s a treat, a workout, a spa day, a wardrobe upgrade or all the above, there are so many ways to make your day at The Street.
